Registrations are open for the 2023 Season
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of home school families who are:
- Passionate about creating opportunities for home schoolers to participate (and excel) in team sports.
- Passionate about our community and getting the whole family involved – we rely on the involvement of our parents (coaching, scorekeeping, umpiring, team administration etc.).
- Passionate about exercising biblical values and teaching our children the skills to practise these values even when under severe pressure.
WHAT DO WE DO?
WE PLAY SOFTBALL!!
We have been doing so since 2011, being a home school softball club that competes against local schools in the Tshwane Schools Softball league (we are the current Boys U 19 Tshwane Champions). We’ve seen numerous of our players being selected for provincial softball teams as well as for national teams who competed at world championship events against top international teams.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Our mandate for taking part in the School’s Softball League is to present opportunities to home-schooled children (previously home-schooled children who played for Homespun and then went back to school are also welcome if their current schools do not offer softball). Home schooled children attending ‘cottage schools’ are considered on an individual case by case (by interview), taking into consideration the degree of parent involvement in schooling and in the activities of Homespun. If you are uncertain, please continue with registration – you will be contacted to arrange an interview if necessary.
When inviting new players, kindly refer them to our website for more information.
WHEN DO WE PLAY?
We expect participating families to commit for our season (training sessions and games) which runs from the beginning of June 2023 until end of September (Primary School teams) and end of October (High School teams). Our practice sessions are held on Monday Afternoons (14:00 onwards). League games commence after the July school holidays; primary school teams generally play their games weekly on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons (14:00 onwards), while high school teams’ games are scheduled for Friday afternoons and/or Saturday mornings.
Important dates to diarise.
